Wollo University signs Strategic Partnership with Moscow Technical University of Communication and Informatics (MTUCI) at the Global Digital Forum in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.
Wollo University (WU) of Ethiopia, represented by its President, Dr. Awol Seid, and MTUCI of Russia, represented by Sergey Dmitrievich Erokhin, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance international academic and scientific cooperation.
The signing took place during the Global Digital Forum in Nizhny Novgorod, Russian Federation, an event that convened over 2800 IT experts, 170 companies and high-level representatives from more than 114 countries, including delegations from 31 African nations.
The MOU establishes a comprehensive framework for collaboration, with a focus on:
- Staff and student exchange programs to foster cross-cultural academic engagement.
- Joint development of academic programs, particularly in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
- Formation of a joint scientific educational unit to support collaborative research and educational initiatives.
- Collaborative research projects and joint publications to advance knowledge in digital technologies.
- Organization of joint seminars and conferences to share research findings and encourage expert dialogue.
This partnership is set to capitalize on WU’s expanding influence in Africa and MTUCI’s renowned expertise in cyber security, artificial intelligence, communication and journalism, and IT technology. Together, the institutions aim to address global challenges in digital technology and cyber-security.
The signing ceremony was followed by in-depth discussions on the next steps, attended by representatives from Ethiopia, Belarus, Cuba, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tanzania, and Vietnam.
These discussions underscore both universities’ commitment to sustained cooperation and the effective implementation of the agreed initiatives in the rapidly evolving digital world.
