Wollo University, Kombolcha Institute of Technology, Hosts the 7th Annual Research Conference

Wollo University, Kombolcha Institute of Technology, hosted the 7th annual research conference on “Advancements in Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development (ASTISD-2025)” at Kombolcha Campus.

The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Melaku Tamene, Scientific Director of the Institute, setting the stage for a day of rich academic exchange. This was followed by an inspiring opening speech from Dr. Awol Seid, President of Wollo University, who emphasized the vital role of innovation in driving sustainable development.

The intellectual tone of the day was further elevated by two distinguished keynote speakers: Dr. Tibebe Beshah of Addis Ababa University and Dr. Fasikaw Atanaw of Bahir Dar University focus on computational innovation and environmental sustainability.

The conference featured a series of technical paper presentations across the Engineering and Informatics tracks, showcasing cutting-edge research that ranged from bioenergy production using microbial fuel cells, advanced wireless network planning, and solar drying systems, to machine learning applications in healthcare, fake news detection, and cancer diagnostics. Each session reflected a high level of intellectual engagement and technical proficiency.

The conference concluded with a comprehensive summary report, the distribution of certificates, and heartfelt closing remarks by Dr. Hawa Wolie, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer. Her words reflected the collective pride and aspiration to continue advancing the nation’s research agenda.
