Objectives
The objectives of the program is to:
Improve Agricultural Development Interventions:
Graduates will enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of agricultural development interventions in Ethiopia by becoming innovative, dynamic, and professional change agents. They will serve various organizations addressing emerging development issues, contributing to pro-poor, gender-sensitive, and ecologically sound agricultural and rural development.
Acquire Comprehensive Knowledge and Skills:
Graduates will gain in-depth knowledge of the conceptual framework, features, significance, components, and growth aspects of rural development and agricultural extension. They will understand the roles of specialized agencies and tailored projects, acquiring skills to address poverty, render extension services, and coordinate rural agencies and community development programs.
Facilitate Development Planning and Implementation:
The program will develop graduates’ proficiency in translating development principles and policies into practice. They will be equipped to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate rural development programs with a professional outlook, adapting valuable insights and lessons from other countries to suit local conditions in Ethiopia.
Understand and Navigate Institutional Interactions:
Graduates will comprehend the implications of interactions among the market, government, and civil society. They will understand the theoretical and conceptual underpinnings of these institutions’ functioning and policy initiatives, and they will be oriented towards enhancing social development indicators in sectors such as education, healthcare, nutrition, social security, employment, and income.
