Background

The Information and Communication Technology Service (ICTS) team provides the primary management and support for computing and technology services within the University (Kiot). ICTS manages the wired and wireless network infrastructure, campus computer classrooms and facilities, and maintains University owned computer equipment and peripherals.

ICTS also manages a number of Services, including the University’s institutional Email, Video Conferencing, Antivirus control, Official Websites, the Internet Connection service, and systems such as the Integrated Library System and the Student Management Information System.

ICTS staff are currently working on a number of projects to enhance the University’s ICT services and to support delivery of the University’s administrative and academic functions in line with the University’s ICT Strategy.

The team is the main source of support and advice for both academic and administrative departments on computing and technology issues.

  • ICT infrastructure development & services
  • Teaching and learning technologies
  • Customer Support

Mission

The main mission of the ICTO is:

Provide secure, reliable, and integrated technology infrastructure and solutions in alignment with academic, research, community engagement and administrative goals of the Wollo University (KIOT), while delivering excellence in customer service.

 Provide leadership and planning for the effective and strategic use of emerging technologies in the institute to meet the goals outlined in the Education Sector Strategic Roadmap,

 Build technical and operational excellence through a commitment to professionalism and continuous improvement.

Goals

The goals of the ICT Office are to:

  • Leverage ICTs for the attainment of the Education Sector Roadmap,
  • Deploy fit for purpose ICT infrastructure and services to support the institution,
  • Harness ICTs for innovative teaching and learning,
  • Apply ICT in support of world-class research,
  • Expand ICT use to deliver digital content,
  • Use ICTs to deliver efficient and cost-effective enterprise services in the institution,
  • Reduce and mitigate ICT-related risks to Institution, and
